Sample Clean Up automation
Sample clean up is crucial for samples with complex matrices, such as biological fluids or food material. In fact, before proceeding with the injection into a LC or LC/MS system, the analytes of interest must be separated from the sample matrix.
This is a fundamental step to avoid that contaminants damage the analytical column or negatively affect the LC separation or the final detection. Sample clean up procedure can involve different steps:
- sample derivatization with one or more buffers/reagents
- sample heating at a set temperature for a fixed timing (to make some reactions – such as enzymatic digestion - occur
- sample vortexing
- sample clean up by SPE cartridges
Automation of sample clean up procedures assure higher reproducibility, increased productivity and even more sensitivity.
