Sample prep automation for Ion Chromatography
Filtration plays a crucial role in removing particulates and microbes from samples before injection into an Ion Chromatography system.
Removal of particulates preserves the column and avoids damage to the IC system with consequent drop in performance, while removal of the bacteria prevents analyte degradation.
Some samples, particularly iron-rich samples, can form precipitates during storage, so it is important to perform the filtration step immediately before the injection into the Ion Chromatograph (even if a first filtration operation has
already been carried out just after the sample collection).
The filtration automation makes the filtration process simple, reliable, reproducible and cost-effective.
